Here is part of the Port of Portland as seen from Pittock Mansion. Portland boasts the largest freshwater port in the United States with two of the largest dry docks on the West Coast. They are large enough to dry dock a Supertanker for repairs.
Portland's Civic Stadium is home to the Portland Rockies baseball team and is used for many concerts and high school events as well. The stadium will undergo complete renovation starting in 2000 to eventually house a Major League baseball team.
Portland State University is located in Downtown Portland along a beautiful stretch called the Park Blocks. Portland is home to many outstanding universities including PSU, University of Portland, Reed College, Lewis and Clark College, the Northwestern School of Law, and Oregon Health Sciences University (Oregon's only medical school).
The Park Blocks run from PSU to Union Station through the middle of Downtown Portland. They are a wonderful place to have lunch, go for a walk, read a book, study for class, or just enjoy a park setting in the heart of a vibrant downtown area.
